Airbus Vs. Boeing: Aribus and Boeing with Donald Trump are the main characters of the latest news in commercial war. The World Trade Organization (WTO) authorised the USA to impose tariffs on some EU goods because the EU had been supporting Airbus, which is a violation against the free competency.
It seems that the U.S. did the same, and now the WTO is considering authorizing the EU to also impose some tariffs on the U.S. Actually, the WTO has already found that the U.S. subsidised Boeing. It has just not made a decision. We will need to wait until 2020 for that.
With this news in the media every other day, many investors have taken a look at the these two big companies’ stocks. Let’s see what we can find.
Airbus
When we wrote this article, Airbus’s stock price was 125.76 EUR in the French stock market. The historical top is at 134.4 EUR and was achieved on July 15.
Right now, Airbus is in a sideways trend with a low band around 114 – 112 EUR and the top in the mentioned 134.4. We could say this sideways movement started in February 2019. The 30-weeks moving average is plain or with a slight positive grade.
For now, despite the commercial war, the stock seems to be in good shape and should try to surpass the historical top some day in the coming months. It is an interesting stock while it respects the support of the low band of the lateral.
Boeing
Boeing is also in in a sideways movement, but in this case it started much sooner than Airbus. Boeing has not done much since January 2018.
It made a historical top on February 25, but it quickly came back to the sideways band. Now, the stock price is at 348.93 USD. It has a support around 318 -320 and more importantly at 288. The 30-weeks moving average is plain.
Which one is better?
So far this year, Airbus is behaving much better than Boeing. When we approach the stock market, we prefer to go with the trend. Maybe it will not make you rich, but it is easier to keep good results in the long-term with lower volatility. Thus, Airbus seems to be a stock that gives us more confidence.
With that said, things can change quickly in stocks. Always be careful to set your stop losses, and never buy or hold if the stock breaks them. If you do not know where to invest, our best recommendation is to seek out professional advice from someone you trust.
This article is not intended to give any recommendations, but just to express a subjective opinion that may be very wrong.
