What is the cost of a Medallion Guarantee?
This varies depending on the value of the transaction and how much of a financial liability the institution is taking on for you. Our fees for a UK-based applicant, for example, start from £295 inclusive of taxes, which covers up to $100k, whilst for an application under $100k for an overseas applicant starts from £395. We are also able to provide Medallion for holdings worth much more.
What documents are needed?
In order to supply the Medallion a full list of requirements is sent via email upon application, but typically include:
- Government ID
- Account proof
- Share certificates/forms
- Supporting transaction documents
How long does it take?
Anything from 2 days to 6 weeks if approved; complex cases may take longer.
What is it used for?
To secure financial transfers, mainly securities (stocks, bonds), it is used to verify that the person signing off on a financial transaction is the person authorised to do so.
What is the difference between Notaries and Medallion Guarantees?
- Notary: verifies identity only and unless a member of STAMP themselves cannot supply a Medallion Guarantee
- Medallion Guarantee: verifies identity and accepts financial liability for the transaction
